Safe Job Offer Checklist for Croatia
A good offer is specific, written and verifiable. Workers should slow down when an offer is vague, rushed or depends on large informal payments.
Before you pay or travel
- Verify the employer name, address and website.
- Ask for a written job offer or contract draft.
- Confirm who submits permit documents.
- Ask whether the job requires a labour market test or Croatian Employment Service opinion.
- Request accommodation photos and address.
- Keep copies of every payment receipt and document.
- Never give away your original passport without a clear legal reason and receipt.
Warning signs
- The recruiter refuses to name the employer.
- The salary is much higher than similar offers with no explanation.
- You are pushed to travel before documents are approved.
- There is no written information about housing or working hours.
- You are asked to pay cash without a receipt.
- The person says official rules do not matter.
